Das Journal is an annually published magazine of the renowned German auction house Grisebach and was published from 2013 until 2018. Edited by bestselling author and art historian Florian Illies, it showcased a preview of the highlights for upcoming auctions. Contributors such as Georg Baselitz, Botho Strauß, Ronja von Rönne, and Martin Walser, were commissioned to develop reflective but autonomous text formats that supersede the traditional role of art criticism. We were tasked with the art direction of the magazine. To give each magazine an individual look within a homogeneous collection, we commissioned one photographer per issue to document the authors and artworks.
