Omer Fast
Omer Fast (b. 1972) is one of the most prominent film and video artists of his generation. In his films, he unfolds a narrative that challenges the boundaries between his own story and the one transmitted by his medium, between contemporary and historical events. His work underscores the tension between documentation and fiction.
The Martin-Gropius-Bau presented Talking is not always the solution, Fast’s first major solo exhibition in Berlin, which showcased seven of his projects. For the exhibition architecture and scenography, Studio Miessen and Heike Schuppelius developed a typology that recalled anonymous waiting rooms. Our design for the exhibition catalogue reflects this conception: it comes in the guise of an illustrated popular magazine provided to the visitors for free.
