Double Portraits

Double Portraits is a photo book of a series of portraits photographed by Christoph Klauke. The two portraits were taken with an 10 x 8 inch camera, and were shot seconds apart. The resulting difference between the two photographs is strangely unsettling, and opens up space for various interpretations. For the book design, bearing such a calm subject, a lot of attention was given to details. The Japanese binding makes it possible to work with very delicate paper, without having images show onto the next page. Working with different paper for text and image pages, and carefully considering each element resulted in a distinct object that works on both a content and haptic level.
